Air Transport in Asia-Pacific is BOOMING but why we still have jobless pilots and a/c maintenance ?

Yeah, you must have read the survey issued by Boeing and Airbus - Asia Pacific is the BIGGEST aviation market in the world for the next 20 years.

Then how come, our fresh graduates of "self-sponsored" pilots and aircraft maintenance crews still STRUGGLES to find a job which relates to what they have been trained for.

Air transport supports 28.8 million jobs and $626 billion in GDP in Asia-Pacific.

The air transport industry in Asia-Pacific directly generated an estimated 3.3 million jobs in 2014.

• 1 million of those people (32% of the total) were in jobs for airlines or handling agents (for example, flight crew, check-in staff, maintenance crew, reservations and head office staff).

• Another 149,000 people (5% of the total) worked for airport operators (for example, in airport management, maintenance, security, and operations).

• 1.9 million jobs (58%) were on-site in airports, at retail outlets, restaurants, hotels, etc.

• A further 147,000 people (4%) were employed in the manufacture of civil aircraft (including systems, components, airframes, and engines).

• Air navigation service providers employed an additional 45,000 people (1%).

The total impacts – including those from the operations of the air transport sector itself, the impact of the air transport sector’s procurement of inputs of goods and services from its supply chain, and the impact of employees of the air transport sector and its supply chain spending their wages – mean the air transport sector supported 8.9 million jobs and contributed $364.2 billion to GDP in Asia-Pacific.

In addition, travel and tourism supported 19.9 million people in employment and contributed $261.8 billion to GDP in the Asia-Pacific’s economies.
