Happy Sunday everyone !!


TODAY MYTH : STRUCTURED ON-JOB TRAINING (SOJT) ON “LIVE OPERATING” AIRCRAFTS – WHICH COMPANY TO APPLY LAH?


We received an enquiry from a young soul THREE weeks ago about this issue – due to our hectic schedule on several “exciting new projects” lambat sikit lah (hope you are still around lah bro) - anyway ..here goes …


Before we start to apply to any company – please read and understand what the AN1101 mentioned about live operating aircraft experience :

(1) UNDERSTANDING AN1101 AS THE GUIDELINE


Now that you have understand the experience requirements, let’s find out which companies are suitable for the category of license you are going for – you can’t collect work experience on helicopter if you are going for DCAM/EASA Part 66 – Category B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine) – it doesn’t make sense , right?


No?


Confused?


Hmmm .. Okay – we will try to make it simple for you to understand .


Example :

We are pretty sure most of you are familiar with JPJ (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan) on road transport enforcement / rules and regulations etc – answer this question if you don’t mind :D


You want to apply for a driving license on passenger car from JPJ – can you use a motorbike instead of a car?????


No lah kannn .. (kalau tak tau jugak mmg hang nak kenaaa )


That means,


If you want to apply for a driving license on passenger car then definitely you need to show proof to JPJ that you have attended an approved driving school and you collect driving experience hours in a CAR !


So, its similar to DCAM Part 66 licenses lah – have a look on what category of license you are going for – then once you know then it will be easier for you to apply a specific company which operates / maintained aircrafts related to your category of license.

Except for B2 (Avionics) – you can collect the working experience on both “aircrafts” .


***(Oh yeah .. btw for those who didn’t know – the word “aircrafts” (stands for both aeroplane and helicopter) except for hot air balloon.

(2) SEARCHING FOR THE RIGHT COMPANY IN MAVCOM AND DCAM WEBSITE


Now we have reached to the part in choosing the right company to apply for your live operating aircrafts work experience.


Let’s say you have studied DCAM Part 66 – Category B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine) in an Approved Training Organization – therefore how many years of working experience are required in accordance with AN1101?


YS : 1 year sir !!

9M : Nope – read again !

YS : 5 years ?

9M : Nope

YS : 3 years?

9M : Hang nak kenaaa ??

YS : Okay okay ..2 years sir !!!

9M : Good ! Why 2 years?

YS : Because of the privileges given by DCAM to those who studied in an Approved Training Organization – sir !!

9M : Good boy !!

YS : Smoke break jap sir ?? :P

9M : Not granted – smoking is bad for your lungs – don’t you guys see the F***KED up lungs on the cigarette box?

YS : Okay sir – so no break lah?

9M : No – you stay and prepare 50 questions on ATA 32 – will collect in 27 mins from now !!

This are the list of operators which are Air Service License (ASL) holders – you might noticed that there are no helicopter operators listed – why?


Read on the description of ASL – then you will know lah


In addition to ASL - -click this link for the list of Air Service Permit - ASP holders will be an added list of companies which not many people know exists. Yeah ..especially your own ATOs or training organizations.

So, going back to the requirements of DCAM Part 66 – Category B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine) do you think all of this companies SUITABLE to what you are looking for???


Yes, you bet !!


All of this airlines operates AEROPLANE TURBINE therefore you should apply to all !!! None of them operates an aeroplane piston, right?


So – get ready to submit your application to their HR Dept – REMEMBER this please !!

DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST OF OJT DIRECTLY TO ENGINEERING / QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER – they are very busy people so please have a heart <3


Furthermore, you guys


All application of OJT will be under the purview of HR Department – please take note !!


And one more thing ya !!



DO NOT BE SO LAZY BY CC’ing TO ALL COMPANIES IN ONE EMAIL !! Sample shown above


NEVER EVER DO THAT !! PLEASEEEEE ……


Your application will be deleted in LESS THAN 2 SECS !!

Can download for FREE – however you need to do some research on this companies as not all have access to live operating aircrafts. Some of the companies involved with aircraft parts manufacturing/workshops e.g. GE Aviation


So – do some homework and find out which companies are suitable for you to apply.


And lastly which is VERY VERY IMPORTANT !!


BE HUMBLE !!



Yes, be humble to everyone you are going to meet during your OJT – from the makcik cleaner until the airlines/MRO CEO.


Be nice to everyone – and show a POSITIVE ATTITUDE to everyone because during OJT – the company will observed whether to offer you an employment or not.


Please remember in order to get a job in aircraft maintenance – RECOMMENDATIONS from your supervisors / LAEs are very very IMPORTANT.


Therefore, STRUCTURED ON-JOB TRAINING (SOJT) ON LIVE OPERATING AIRCRAFTS – WHICH COMPANY TO APPLY LAH?
